At 13 months you:
-Still exhibit stranger danger and will only smile and
interact with those on your approved short list of favorite people.-Have some separation anxiety and don’t like it when someone leaves. You often cry when we let Elsie outside and even though you weren’t particularly impressed with the nurse at the doctor’s office, you were sad when she left the room.
-Say a few words – Mama, Dada, dog-dog, uh-oh (sounds like oh-oh),
and baba (bottle). You jabber almost
non-stop and constantly point to things and say, “Bah!” We believe you are asking what different
things are so we regularly name the things you are pointing out. At times I’ve noticed you trying to mimic my
sounds.
-Weigh 22.5 pounds and have dropped to the 50th
percentile (from the 75th) in both height and weight.
-Eat A LOT and consistently as much or more than your
sister. Friends and family seemed
shocked when they see the big plate of food we prepare for you. Then they watch as you polish it off! The doctor told us not to overdo the milk
because he wants you to focus on eating solids.
No problem there!
-You have mastered drinking milk from your sippy. You hold it up high and chug-a-lug. You still get a morning bottle, but that will
be ending soon.
-You love to play and get very focused on what you are
playing with. You also love crawling up
the stairs and have figured out how to come down the stairs and appropriately
dismount from the couch. We still have
to keep a close eye on you though.
-Seem to be close to walking, but just won’t take the plunge
and go for it. One of these days you’re
going to just go for it, and the race will be on then!
-Love to play peek-a-boo.
At first you would cover your ears when playing, but you’ve now figured
out to cover your eyes. I love it when
I’m giving you a bottle, and you cover up one of your eyes and grin at me.
-Continue to require lots of sleep. You are still taking two naps a day and sleep
about 11-12 hours at night.
-Have such a sweet personality. You are very content and happy. I love this age and you too!
