St. Louis Vacation - the ZOO

"I see the Z-O-O!" Clara shouted when she saw the sign for the zoo.  The girls were excited - Clara knew why she was excited; Avery just knew something was going on because Clara was so excited so she seemed excited too.  St. Louis has a fantastic zoo, which is FREE!  They do charge for some exhibits inside the zoo including the sting rays and the petting zoo.  I'm guessing this is for crowd control (in addition to revenue).  We skipped those because we knew we weren't going to make it through the whole zoo anyway before the girls would be in need of a nap.

What are we looking for?

This snake statue looked real at first glance!  Clara checked it out for us and proved that it's not.

We saw lots of Asian elephants.  Matt is full of all sorts of random facts, and Clara now knows how to tell an Asian elephant from an African elephant.  She also knows the two different types of camels.

The penguin exhibit was my personal favorite.
It was perfect because it was right at the girl's level, and we got up-close and personal with the penguins.

We make sure to sport our Jayhawk gear when we're in Missouri.

Uncle Trent, is that you???

I love the Red Rock part of the zoo.  It's nice and open and just very pretty.

Heading out of the zoo.  Notice who's riding and who is walking by this point!
Avery barely made it to the highway before falling asleep once we were in the car though.

Matt loves this stuff as much as the girls!!
