Evan turned one today and celebrated his first birthday with a party on Saturday. Here's Evan with his Mommy and Daddy.
Cute picture of him and Kate!
The party was basketball themed, which was perfect since it's March Madness. Evan enjoyed his cake and dug in with a fork and spoon. My Matt was impressed at Evan's use of silverware.
This picture may look like the Mommys have it under control, but all of the toddlers were wiggling, and we were only able to hold them still long enough for a couple of pictures. Out of several pictures taken, this is one of two where all babies were on our laps. From left to right we have Jayden (17 months), Lesley (12 months), Evan (birthday boy!), Aspen (8 months) and Clara (14 months). Notice all the kids have on their sports gear.
Evan got a hand-painted rocking chair for his birthday - you can't see it here because he's sitting in it. Clara made a bee-line for the chair as soon as she saw it. I don't think she was quite as excited about Evan's chair as he was about her 4-wheeler, but it may have been close. Clara spent most of the party trying to make an escape for the stairs. She quickly realized that there was not a gate blocking the stairs going up, and then the challenge was on! We had a couple of people blocking the doorway at most times, and she would even attempt to crawl over them. She's a persistent little thing! At one point, Abby and I gave up and followed the girls up the stairs. They thought they were pretty big stuff exploring a new place.
All the kids enjoyed playing with Evan's new toys. The broom was a big hit, but made all of the parent's nervous when the kids would swing it around.
Heather with the cheerleaders. I can't believe she got them to sit still long enough for a picture!
The kids had a lot of fun, and it's so fun to see them play together. I feel like it wasn't so long ago that I was so anxious for Abby and Kate to have their babies. Now it's been a year since their babies were born, and our little ones are all over the place! What a fun year it's been for all of us!
