July 4th Fun

Saturday morning we took Clara to Crown Center to see the fountains and the Clifford exhibit. We were prepared with a towel and a change of clothes. Neither was needed because Clara wouldn't go near the fountains. Perhaps we scarred her with the fountain incident at the Royal's game. As you can tell she clung to her Daddy. I don't really blame her, the fountains shoot really high and are very loud.

She wasn't even interested in the tamer fountains.

But she loved walking around far away from the fountains.

And she LOVED the Clifford exhibit! We were the first ones in line before it opened. Very good advice from Abby to get there early because it filled up fast! Thank goodness there were two of us to keep an eye on her because she moved quickly, and there were lots of kiddos and parents.

There was a conveyor belt taking these foam bones into the dog bowl. For some reason, Clara was very focused on getting on the conveyor. She wasn't successful at taking it for a ride, but she did get in the way plenty of times and it was very difficult for us to redirect her attention. I was pleasantly surprised that she didn't throw any fits.

Her other favorite thing was opening and closing this door. Wait, that's one of her favorite things at home too! She would throw the door open, walk through it smiling at her Daddy and then walk around little house and do it again. Over and over. We finally had to move her on to something else to let some other kids have a turn to play in the little school house.

Unfortunately, the rain prevented us from watching fireworks last night. We had planned to take her to watch the display in downtown Parkville, but it started pouring right about the time we needed to leave. We'll try again next year!
