Day 1 - Happy Birthday Avery! Visited in the hospital by all of her Grandparents and her Great Grandpa Ed shortly after birth. Also met her big sister for the first time! What a big day for all of us.
Day 2- Visited by her Grandma Karen and Big sister again. Big sister loved the play area at the hospital as well as her hospital lunch of grilled cheese and watching looney toons while she ate. Avery fussed a lot on Wednesday - probably because she was really hungry and Mommy didn't have much to offer her yet. Really rough night for us on Wednesday night - both Mommy and Avery were upset about how the nursing was going.
Day 3 - Avery's doctor told us we needed to start supplementing with formula because she had lost almost 10% of her body weight. Doctor explained that bad things happen to the organs once you get much past a 10% weight loss. Happy baby now that she was getting food! And happy Mom & Dad because the baby was happy. She actually starting nursing better after she got some formula in her belly. Mom was relieved that giving her a bottle didn't throw off our nursing efforts. Also, enjoyed another visit from Big Sister & Grandma Karen. Thanks Grandma Karen for taking care of Clara and bringing her to visit us everyday! Heather visited us in the evening.
Day 4 - Homeward bound! Avery & I were both cleared by our doctors and discharged from the hospital. Avery's doctor was pleased that she had gained an ounce since the previous day. Got home about noon in time to eat lunch. Clara took a nap while my cousin Brandon stopped by to visit Avery since he was in town.
Day 5 - First full day at home as a family of four. Kim stopped by for a visit in the morning, and the McNeils brought us pizza for dinner. Clara and Evan had a ball running through the house - "Gotta go!" they kept telling us and would run off and hide.
Day 6 - The Edwards' stopped by for a visit in the morning and brought us a frozen meal and an icecream birthday cake for Avery. The Roligs came over to meet Avery as well.
