What is this thing? Hmm...the other kids are putting it in their mouths. Notice the girl accross from Clara has already finished her cupcake. She cracked us all up at how fast she devoured it!

I guess I'll give it a try...

Wow! This is good stuff!

Sitting with the big kids. (When did my baby get big enough to sit in a chair all by herself?!)

The aftermath.
Yesterday Matt & I left work early to join Clara for her Christmas party at daycare. She was in the toddler room when we arrived, and she didn’t see us at first. It was cute watching her in her element before she saw us. I kept calling her name, and she would look around, but it took her a bit before she saw us. My favorite part of picking her up from daycare is when she first sees me—her happy reaction is just so cute.

Each parent signed up to bring a snack on the snack list. We were in charge of cheese and crackers. Each toddler got a plate full of treats, and Clara’s favorite was by far the cupcake and the Capri sun. Clara had not yet had any sugar to this point. But at her party she had a cookie (which she couldn’t eat much of without teeth), a cupcake, and a Capri sun (in addition to the other non-sugar treats). We had planned to have her first piece of cake be at her birthday party, but we didn’t want to take the cupcake away from her yesterday. She was a bit hesitant at first, but once she saw the other kids eating it, she tore into that little cupcake. She ate all of it and got the icing all over her clothes, face, and hair. She got a bath right away when she got home. We’ll see today if that icing comes out in the wash. No surprise that she refused to eat her dinner last night and hardly drank any of her bottle before bed!
