Family Fun Day

Family Fun Day - This is what we've been calling Sundays at our house. About a month ago after a full day of working in the yard on a Saturday, I decided that Sunday should be Family Fun Day. Since we worked all day on Saturday, I felt like we just needed to do something fun and play with and enjoy Clara. So often I feel like I get caught up in the busy-ness of life and just need to slow down and enjoy things a bit more. We've been trying to have a "fun day" each weekend. On our first Family Fun Day we did not eat at Chick-fil-A. Can you believe it? That was only because Chick-fil-A isn't open on Sundays! We did go to Deanna Rose (this was before our return trip in my previous blog).

On Mother's Day, Karen joined us and we took Clara to the play area at the mall. The whole time we were in the play area, Clara was eyeing the carousel so we took her for a ride. I rode on the horse next to her, while her Daddy held on to her.

This past Sunday, we ate lunch at Fritz's, a restaurant where your food is delivered by a train that runs along the ceiling. Clara loved it and kept pointing at the trains saying "choo choo!" It was a nice relaxing meal since she was so content by watching the trains. We discussed eating every meal at Fritz's we enjoyed it so much. Since that's not feasible, we may need to look into installing a toy train to run along our kitchen walls! Keeping her happy while we eat dinner is a constant challenge and frustration. After her nap, we met Abby, Jason, and Lesley at the park. The slide was the girl's favorite thing.

The swings were another favorite. Lesley laughed so hard, we were all laughing!

Here's Clara on her way up to the slide. I think she could do this all day. As soon as she would go down the slide, she was on her way over to go again.

Come-on Clara this way!

Jason and Abby had us over for dinner after the park, and the girls played in the pool while Jason grilled.
Clara is sick again - poor thing. She is running a bit of a fever and had to be picked up early from daycare today. Matt and I have been feeling a bit under the weather off and on this week - mostly just tired mixed with some congestion. One of these days, we're all going to have rock-solid immune systems.... Assuming she gets to feeling better, we have more fun planned this weekend including a trip to the zoo with Evan.
