Avery @ 17 months

Even a princess has to take a milk break!

I'm ready!  Where are we going?!

Hi Mom

Putting on her high heels!

Avery at 17 months:
-You have started to form an opinion on life.  You make it very clear when you are not satisfied and when things are not going as you think they should.
-You point and fuss until you get what you want.  You get very upset when we tell you “no.”
-You love activities and trying to keep up with other big kids and your sister.
-Can now run and love when we chase you.  You are still somewhat unsteady and tend to fall when you’re moving fast and often trip over objects in your way.
-Have learned some sign language.  When you fuss during dinner, we ask you what you want and wait for you to tell us before proceeding.  You can sign “more”, “drink” and “all done.”  That usually covers any necessary mealtime communication.
-Are close to dropping your morning nap.  We have to be strategic now if we decide to put you down for your morning nap.  It really only seems necessary when you’ve gotten up early and are starting to get fussy mid-morning.  We’re now keeping it short because otherwise the morning nap has started to interfere with the afternoon nap.  Several times now, we’ve skipped the morning nap altogether.
-Love to be tickled.  You laugh and squeal with delight when tickled.
-Enjoy the outdoors.  During our snow days, we bundled you up and you enjoyed walking around the driveway and in and out of the garage.  You were VERY upset when we took you inside.
-Attempt to repeat words that we say and have mastered about 20 words, which includes animal noises.  New animal noises include “moo,” “neigh” and a monkey sound.
-Play dress-up every chance you get.  The tutu is a new favorite.  You love to get all dolled up – tutu, necklaces, bracelets, fur coat, princess crown, and shoes that are too big for you.
-Love to put on your sisters or Mommy’s shoes and try to walk around in them.  You get really mad when they won’t stay one.
-Continue to love music.  You’ll be fussing, but as soon as I turn on the music you quiet down immediately and start head bobbing.  (A favorite at the moment is One Direction’s What Makes you Beautiful.)
-Are such a delight.  I smoother you in hugs and kisses and tell you all the time how much I love you.
