Four Month Letter from Mommy

Dear Clara Lynn,
Four months! You’ve changed so much this month, and you’re getting so big! Our favorite things this month are your big smiles and your”talking.” And we love your longer sleep patterns. For a while I was convinced that you’d never “sleep thru the night” or even sleep longer than 2-3 hour stretches! This month started out with 3- 4 hour stretches (getting up twice a night), which turned into getting up only once a night about two weeks ago, and amazingly, just this past week you’ve slept thru the night three nights in a row!! You have mastered sucking your thumb, and I attribute the improvement in your sleeping patterns to your new ability to soothe yourself by sucking your thumb. You are so attached to that thumb that you often get it into your mouth while we’re trying to feed you! You’ve also started moving around in your crib, and some nights you either scoot yourself to the side of the crib or turn yourself 180 degrees so that you end up facing the opposite way from how we lay you down.

You started daycare this month, and from what we can tell, you seem to be very happy with Miss Trish. One afternoon as we were getting ready to leave, Miss Trish gave you a kiss and told you goodbye and you gave her a huge smile and a loud “coo.” It was very sweet! You are so tired after being at daycare all day and watching the other kids that you are often asleep by 7pm. We typically just hold you until we start bedtime at about 8:30pm because we just can’t put you to bed that early! We want to spend some time with you, even if you are asleep! Being away from you three days a week makes me treasure my days with you on Wednesday and Fridays. We go to baby yoga every Wednesday morning and then usually meet Daddy for lunch.
We love talking to you and seeing your big smiles! You are such a happy girl when you wake up in the morning (well, after you are fed), and you give us big smiles and just jabber away. Remind us when you are older to tell you about your farting & talking during church and pooping on the neighbor’s carpet!

Yesterday we saw lots of couples who were going to prom, and we were discussing the rules for when you start dating and when you go to prom. I can already tell I’m going to have to get your Daddy to ease up a bit and realize that a 9 o’clock curfew isn’t reasonable.=) Your Mommy is already having lots of fun dressing you up in cute summer dresses and taking pictures!

Well, sounds like nap time is over! We love you bunches.

Love,
Your Mommy
