Family Dress

One thing I thought was so special when we had Clara was seeing all the baby things that our families have saved through the years.
-Both of our Moms kept our teddy bears from when we were little. They are both pretty ragged looking and are now in Clara's room. Matt's bear is named Teddy and mine is Ted. My Mom gave me mine at one of my baby showers with a note that said "I have missed you. Love, Ted."
-Both Mom's also gave us our baby books. It was fun to see when we hit milestones as well as other fun things our Moms had documented. We saw Clara's pediatrician's name on a piece of paper from Matt's pediatrician from one of his well baby visits. We knew it was the same practice, but we didn't realize Clara's doctor may have also seen Matt when he was little!
-Matt's Mom gave us baby blankets, crocheted items from his Grandma, and a little plaque that was in Matt's room when he was a baby. She also gave Clara the little rocking chair (in the pictures below) that was Matt's as well.
-My Mom gave me all the frilly dresses I wore when I was a baby. She also finished quilting a baby blanket that she had started making when she was pregnant with me.
-Grandpa Ed gave Clara an original cabbage patch doll that Grandma Barbara bought years and years ago when they first came out.
-Grandma Rose gave us a dress that his Mom wore when she was little.
-Grandma Oney gave us the dress that has been worn by all the girls in their family. She asked that we take pictures of Clara in the dress--it's tradition. Each time for the last year that I would think about it, we were busy needing to get somewhere or Clara was sleeping. With some reminders from Oney, we finally dressed her up in it, and got some pictures. Thank goodness it still fit!
