A lot of the trip Clara and Evan just stared at things in awe. They would occassionally point, but they were completely content riding around looking at the animals. We got them out of the wagon in the sheep pen, where again, Clara had no interest in walking around with the animals. Evan, however, wasn't scared at all and thought this was a great adventure. I asked Clara what a sheep says, and she happily announced, "Baaaaa!" I got responses from a couple of other kids as well.

After lunch, Evan fell asleep in the wagon shortly after we started our tour of Africa. Poor guy kept trying to get comfortable by shifting from side to side and even bending in half with his head near the floor of the wagon. It was hilarious and provided some laughs, but we did hurry through the rest of the zoo so his parents could get him to the car. Clara was worn out too!! She fell asleep in the car before we even made it to the highway and slept about 3 hours until we woke her up at 5pm. She slept 12 hours that night, and then took TWO three hour naps the following day! We felt like we hardly saw her. She still requires a lot of sleep but especially after the zoo.

Yesterday evening, my Company had a family event at the Royals. We had a BBQ dinner served in a tent in the parking lot before the game. Clara is a big fan of hot dogs! We went into the game early because we knew she probably won't make it very long. We managed to keep her semi-happy through three innings and then we were both worn out! It was nearing her bedtime, and she started getting fussy. The most challenging part was that she didn't want to sit still. She yelled out "BALL!" a couple of times when I was showing her were to look.
Our seats ended up being behind the CFO and she kept trying to lunge at him, and at one point she hit him with her sippy cup. I had warned him in advance that we'd do our best, but that she was a squirmer. He asked her for a high five, and she was all over that. Then held up his fist to do a fist bump. Proudly, she reciprocated his fist bump. Matt and Aunt Abby had been working with her on this, but we've never seen her actually do it. Then she kept trying to get his attention for more fist bumps. It was super cute!
This picture was before the game. She was very happy then because she had room to roam around. During the first inning, when she got restless, I took her out into the walkway, and she loved being able to run around. She's doesn't understand the concept of strangers, and I stayed right next to her because she would just walk up to people and lift her arms. I'd just laugh nervously and guide her the other way. Silly girl!
After the end of the third ending, we headed towards the car, but made a pit stop in the kiddy area of the stadium. She loved the fountains. She wouldn't get too close to this one, but thought it was fun that the water was splashing on her feet.
We saw this coming but couldn't resist. There are holes in the concrete and the water periodically shots up through each one. Clara saw the water shoot up and go away, and then tried to figure out where it went. As she was bending over to investigate, I had the camera ready, and the water came back! This startled her at bit, and then she was done with that game!
