Avery at 14 months you:
-Started walking! You
are quite unsteady and you don’t seem to have control over which directions
your legs will take you. You will set
out for a certain destination and then tend to veer right or left. Changing terrains seems to trip you up, but
you are learning how to stand still and balance when you start to get unsteady.
-Can stand up on your own.
You’ll start with a low squat and then stand straight up. This began right before you started walking.
-Have been battling a double ear infection. The doctor said “Wow!” as she looked in each
ear and then asked if her student could come look at your ears. Never a good sign when you’re used for
educational purposes. I’m sorry that we
didn’t catch it sooner.
-Have eight teeth and are cutting molars. You’ve been fussy and have run a low-grade
fever off and on. This is probably why
we didn’t catch on to the ear infection as soon as we should have.
-Make a lot of different sounds. The “Bah!” has turned into all sorts of
gibberish and babbling. It sounds as if
you are speaking in your own language.
-Love the Christmas tree.
As I predicted you ripped all the bows right off of the packages as soon
as you spotted them. You also enjoy
taking the ornaments off the tree.
-Devour blackberries.
They have been a clear favorite over anything else we’ve put on your
plate lately.
-Have started throwing food.
I think this was a result of you being cranky and your loss of appetite
while being sick. Elsie thinks this is
great.
-Are a Mommy’s girl. I
love, love, love it. You love your Daddy
a whole lot too, but when you are tired and cranky you ask for Mommy a lot.
-Gave up the bottle this month – not by your choice but you
handled the loss of your morning bottle very well. The doctor mentioned weaning your from the
binky. We are very hesitant about this
step and have not yet settled on a timeframe.
-Seem less like a baby and more like a toddler each day. Tear.
Not sure I’m ready to let go of the baby stage just yet, but just about
all of our baby gear, bottles, and other baby accessories have been packed
away.
-Continue to brighten all of our days. Your big toothy grin is just precious. You are so delightful to be around and always
make us smile.
